So I grew up loved, and well cared for, and "culturally" as a Black person. The Black folks in the little town never treated me any different from any of their kids, so I never realized I was any different...not till Mom decided "we" wanted me to get a "decent" education when I completed my sophmore year.
Most of the classes offered at the town's "High School" were of the vocational type, or suitable for folks who were going to continue the Family Farm. Mom wanted better for me, and I figured that it would be easier for me stay with an "uncle" in Detroit during the school year, than to spend 4 hours on a bus each day travelling to and from the nearest town's High School....
So at 15 I was packed up and sent to live with my Uncle Hank....... That first year made me a real "believer in heaven " because my life was such a living hell...
